Want a simple, safe, online Taste of Folk College?
Here is your opportunity! While an online event won't give us what we get by seeing each other live, this will still be a fun day. Join Simple Gifts and friends for workshops, open mic, concert, and jamming.
DATE: Saturday, January 2, 2021
TIME: 4pm to 9pm, but drop in anytime
LOCATION: Via Zoom
Zoom Link Here, Passcode tofc
COST: FREE! (with donations gratefully accepted)
• a fun virtual party with lots of jamming
• an opportunity for people who haven't been to Folk College and Greenwood Furnace Folk Gathering to see what it's about in a free 1-day event
• a reunion for Folk College and Greenwood Furnace Folk Gathering attendees
• a fantastic event for people who play an instrument, people who wish they played an instrument, and people who just like to listen
SCHEDULE
4 - 4:45 pm
Join Simple Gifts to learn the basics of how to not only survive a jam session, but more importantly, to enjoy yourself.
5 - 6 pm
Simple Gifts has some weird instruments to show you, but we'd love to see and hear about your weird instruments too!
6:15 - 7:30 pm
In keeping with our tradition of having a potluck during TOFC, we'll have an at-home potluck. Get all the leftovers out of your fridge, lay them out on the counter, and enjoy! To perform at open mic, send your request to info@folkcollege.com
7:45 - 8 pm
8 - 9 pm
Simple Gifts will lead tunes/songs you suggest. All will be muted except for Simple Gifts - so we'll all see each other, but you'll only hear Simple Gifts and yourself. Without getting into the complications of installing software more complicated than Zoom, this is the current best option for jamming online. If you're interested in learning about the software that allows for real online jamming, contact linda@simplegiftsmusic.com, and we'll schedule another date for this if there's enough interest.
