Folk College is a fun and friendly weekend of playing and listening to folk music — a fantastic three days of workshops, jam sessions, concerts, and group playing. The camp is designed for musicians with eclectic tastes. Within one weekend, you’ll have a choice of workshops ranging from oldtime to Celtic to blues to international, and you’ll get to sing, dance, play, and listen.
Musicians of all instruments and levels are welcome, and there are also choices for non-musicians who want to listen, learn, and experiment with folk music - including a beginners’ sampler where absolute beginners can try fiddle, mandolin, dulcimer, guitar, and banjo. Each evening features a staff concert followed by staff-led jam sessions. Saturday after the concert, we hold a contradance with an open band. You’ll also have an opportunity to be coached by a professional musician in a band setting and to perform in the student concert. Professional development will be offered for school teachers, including Act 48 credit for Pennsylvania teachers.

"Folk College has given me opportunities to experiment as a musician, develop warm friendships, and learn from professionals in an easy-going, relaxed format. I always return home feeling a strong sense of connection and community to the folk music world and ready to bring my feelings of inspiration to my community through workshops and gatherings in my town."
Lea Masiello
